Complete setup and usage instructions

Overview

Connect your Verbite account with WordPress to automatically publish your AI-generated articles as drafts on your WordPress site. This integration helps streamline your content workflow and saves time on manual copying and pasting.

Requirements

Before setting up the integration, ensure you have:

  • WordPress 5.0 or higher
  • WordPress REST API enabled (enabled by default)
  • User account with 'Editor' or 'Administrator' role
  • HTTPS enabled (recommended for security)
  • Verbite Agency Plan (required for integrations)

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Create Application Password in WordPress

Log into your WordPress admin dashboard

Go to https://yoursite.com/wp-admin

Navigate to your user profile

Click Users → Your Profile in the left sidebar

Scroll to Application Passwords section

Look for the "Application Passwords" section at the bottom of the page

Create new application password

Enter "Verbite" and click "Add New Application Password"

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Copy the password immediately

The password will look like: abcd 1234 efgh 5678 ijkl 9012

Copy this immediately - it will only be shown once!

2. Configure Integration in Verbite

Go to Settings → Integrations and add a new WordPress integration with your site details.

Your main domain

https://yoursite.com

Username

WordPress username

your-username

App Password

From step 1

Security & Permissions

Application Passwords Are Safe

  • More secure than your regular WordPress password
  • • Can be revoked anytime without affecting your main login
  • • Each application has its own unique password
  • • WordPress logs all usage for security monitoring

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions

❌ "Connection failed: 401 Unauthorized"

Cause: Incorrect username or application password

  • • Double-check your WordPress username (not email)
  • • Regenerate the application password in WordPress
  • • Ensure you copied the password with spaces included

❌ "Connection failed: 404 Not Found"

Cause: Incorrect site URL or REST API disabled

  • • Verify your site URL (without /wp-admin)
  • • Check if REST API works: yoursite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/
  • • Contact hosting provider if REST API is blocked

❌ "Connection failed: 403 Forbidden"

Cause: Insufficient user permissions

  • • Ensure your user has "Editor" or "Administrator" role
  • • Check if hosting provider restricts REST API access
  • • Verify the user account is active
